Equilibria Counseling provides therapy for individuals navigating periods of change, loss, or disconnection. Sessions are conducted virtually for your comfort, convenience, and privacy.

Approach & Modalities

  • CBT is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals learn the connection between their mind, body and emotion. It works to increase cognitive awareness and teach adaptive coping strategies. CBT aims to improve emotional and mental wellbeing by supporting individuals to learn how to recognize unhelpful thoughts and reframe them into more balanced realistic thoughts. 

  • TF-CBT is an evidence-based approach that incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with structure skills building tools that CBT uses to reduce traumatic stress symptoms. It aims to support individuals to recognize their triggers, challenge unhelpful thought patterns and process traumatic experiences while strengthening the ability to emotionally regulate. Using a more paced framework it promotes resilience, achieves a more grounded sense of self and improves overall functioning. 

  • DBT combines both cognitive and behavioral interventions with mindfulness based strategies to help improve individuals emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. This approach focuses on rebuilding balance between acceptance and change hence its efforts to support individuals manage intense emotions in using more balance and healthier tools.  

  • Narrative Therapy approach engages individuals to explore the personal stories that may influence their identity and life experiences. It helps individuals to examine, reframe these stories by identifying limiting narratives to develop a more balanced and empowering interpretations. In doing so this approach promotes self awareness, emotional clarity and alignment with one's personal values. 

  • Strength-Based & Solution-Focused Therapy is a collaborative and goal oriented approach that highlights existing strengths, resources and effective patterns to promote meaningful change. This future and present focused approach highlights what individuals are already doing well to emphasize resilience, practical goals setting and forward movement. This allows them to rebuild balance through targeted achievable steps. 

  • Mindfulness-Based therapy is a nonjudgement approach that utilizes present moment awareness strategies such as breathwork, grounding exercises, body awareness and mindful observation to improve emotional regulation, reduce stress reactivity and stabilize the nervous system. Learning and adopting these practices helps to improve cognitive clarity, stress management and supports a more balanced internal experience. 

  • ACT is an evidence based approach that aims to support individuals to develop mental and emotional flexibility through increasing their awareness of difficult thoughts and emotions without becoming overwhelmed. Act promotes acceptance, mindfulness and values focused action. This approach does not aim to change thoughts or feelings but work hard to change individuals' relationship with them through the clarification of core values, strengthening emotional regulation and building patterns of behavior that promotes balance and overall wellbeing. 

  • IFS is a trauma informed approach that aims to help individuals to understand and balance the different “parts” within their  internal world and experience. IFS uses compassionate exploration and self awareness to promote emotional integration, reduce internal conflict and foster a balanced sense of self. 

Areas of Focus

  • Anxiety is the body's natural response to stress, uncertainty and possible danger. Anxiety can get overwhelming and cause overthinking or distortions in your thought pattern. Here at Equilibria we can provide a safe and supportive space to explore your worries and  gain a better understanding of what drives your anxiety. We work collaboratively to learn helpful ways to achieve balance and feel more in control.

    Our work may involve exploring stressful life events, thought patterns, or physical responses that keep anxiety impactful. The goal is to strive to build skills that can be used everyday to manage symptoms of anxiety more effectively. These skills can include grounding exercises, breathing techniques, mindfulness strategies and working on building and/or improving lifestyles habits and supporting emotional balance.

  • Depression may disrupt an individual's internal balance and make it difficult to feel motivated, connected and in sync with daily life. It has a drastic impact on our mood, energy, thought patterns and ability to function. 

    At Equilibria using evidence based and balance oriented therapy we can help with sorting through the heaviness and isolation that depression can bring. We provide supportive care that meets you where you are at and works with each individual's unique strength to aid in restoring overall stability and grounded sense of self and well-being.

  • Life transition and Identify exploration are often unavoidable and can create periods of imbalance as individuals navigate and adapt to changes within aspects of themselves, their environments and roles. 

    This time can bring significant uncertainty, possible disruption in mood and daily functioning. However, you don’t have to work through this alone. At Equilibria we are here to provide support as you work on adjusting to new circumstances such as relationship changes, career shifts, relocations, personal growth milestones, pregnancy and postpartum. With the support of our provider individuals can use this safe space to reflect and clarify their identity while developing adaptive coping strategies to aid in alleviating distressful symptoms during time of transition and identify exploration.

  • Racial trauma and challenges related to cultural Identity have a way of impacting individuals' sense of self, belonging and internal balance. Any forms of exposure to discrimination, microaggressions, cultural conflict and/or any form of systemic challenges can lead to heightened stress, emotional distress and difficulty navigating daily life. Individuals may also experience identity conflict, internalized messaging, or challenges navigating multiple cultural expectations.

    At Equilibria we believe that individuals are the experts in their culture and identity. We use strength based, cultural attunement and competence to support individuals process difficult experiences and strengthen their emotional and identify resilience. Through the use of transparency, genuineness and therapeutic alliance, we provide effective care to our individual by creating a safe supportive space for them to feel genuinely seen, heard and understood and achieve their balance. 

  • Grief and loss can have a significant emotional, cognitive and physical impact by affecting an individual's mood, concentration and overall functioning. A time of loss can be a difficult one as it can cause feelings of disconnect, uncertainty and/or loss of identity. 

    Grief and loss impacts us all differently and therefore the process towards healing isn't a one-size fits all. At equilibria our goal is to use an individualized and unique approach to support you to process your grief safely, create adaptive ways of coping and collaboratively work with you to aid in the rediscovery of your purpose. 

  • Substance use and recovery can often feel all consuming and be a difficult and isolating journey. But remember you don’t have to do it alone. Here at Equilibria, through collaboration and compassionate care efforts we work towards addressing individuals' underlying triggers, process relationships with substances, identifying and strengthening adaptive coping strategies and restoring balance within routines and distress tolerance skills.

    We believe there’s more than one path to recovery. Whether the path you chose is managing relapse prevention, harm reduction, sobriety or simply exploring your relationship with substances, our practice aims to support you with empathy, compassion and genuineness.

  • Trauma can have a significant impact on our internal balance affecting our sense of safety, how we view ourselves and experience the world around us. At Equilibria, we strive to aid individuals to process and understand the impact trauma has on both the mind and body. We engage individuals to explore and strengthen their capacity to improve their ability to stay present during moments of distress. 

    Our ultimate goal is to support and gently guide individuals to restore balance within their nervous system, emotions and thoughts patterns. To achieve this we use evidence-based approaches to help individuals to increase their understanding, build awareness and ability to self regulate.

Session Information

Format: Individual telehealth sessions

  • Duration: Intake session can take up to 60 minutes while regular session may varies and be anywhere from 45-53 minutes.

  • Insurance Accepted: Aetna, Point32Health (Tufts + Harvard pilgrim), Blue Cross Blue Shield, others pending.

  • Please inquire about self-pay rates if it applies.
